Wendell and Wild

For 2+ years, I worked as a puppet fabrication generalist on Wendell & Wild, a Netflix film directed by legendary Henry Selick, with Jordan Peele & Michael Keegan Key.

As a generalist, I assist in all puppet related departments. I helped develop the Mortician Wendell & Wild characters. It was decided that instead of making the costumes fabric, we would take an alternative approach.

Their costumes are made from several materials, including several types of silicone, rolled aluminum, flexible & hard urethanes, flock made to look like velvet, fabric and more. Once back in the studio (pandemic), we had a short time to R&D materials. There were many obstacles, lots of trial and error, and some great successes.

In tandem, I worked on stunt puppets, background characters, extra large or small scale puppets, duplicates, sculpting, art department puppet needs, mechanical props, etc.

I was approached by the studio to do some design work for the film title. Here is the final result! It was an honor to be able to do both fabrication and graphic design on the show.
